Ster-Kinekor Theatres – Always Better on our Big Screen.
WHITE WEDDING opens at Ster-Kinekor Theatres
On April 29, Ster-Kinekor filmgoers can look forward to a new breed of South African cinema with the release of White Wedding, a slick, canny romantic comedy starring Rapulana Seiphemo ("Jerusalema"), Kenneth Nkosi ("Tsotsi") and British actress Jodie Whittaker, star of "Venus".
Smart, appealing, breezy and invigorating White Wedding is the feature film debut of celebrated author and television director Jann Turner. The high-spirited romantic road-movie takes place all over the ravishing landscapes of South Africa from bustling Johannesburg and tropical Durban to the luscious Eastern Cape and dazzling mother city of Cape Town.
The dynamite cast sees the first pairing on screen of charismatic local superstars Kenneth Nkosi and Rapulana Seiphemo, who both show a side to them that audiences haven't seen before, as buddies racing against time and difficult circumstances to reach a wedding. The two South African TV idols are teamed opposite rising UK star Jodie Whittaker in this appealing cocktail of bubby-buddy road movie and rom-com 'chick-flick'.
Be a guest at the White Wedding at 7pm on Tuesday 21st April, when the Ster Kinekor Parow brings cast members of White Wedding to meet and greet their fans.
There will also be a free pre release screening of this fantastic movie starting at 8pm. Tickets will be available at the Cinema Box Office from 10am on the day, and will be issued on a first come first served basis.
"White Wedding" is a Stepping Stone Pictures Production directed by Jann Turner and executive produced by best-selling novelist, Ken Follett.
This October, Ster-Kinekor Theatres presents yet another cinema first, with the introduction of Soweto Gospel Choir on screen.
From 10 October, the film house will present the first ever digital screenings of the two-time Grammy Award-winning group performing from the Nelson Mandela Theatre in Johannesburg.
"We are yet again excited to present to our South African audience another unique in-cinema experience, a first of its kind in our country," says Fiaz Mahomed, CEO, Ster-Kinekor Theatres. "We feel that this will provide our customers an exclusive opportunity to view their favourite singers performing their favourite songs only at our Big Screen."
Speaking on this initiative, BEVERLY Bryer, Executive Producer and Director of Soweto Gospel Choir says, "We couldn't be happier to jump on this opportunity to partner up with Ster-Kinekor Theatres. We feel that this is a fantastic space for followers of our music to see us on the big screen."
In addition to showcasing the Soweto Gospel Choir on the Big Screen, Ster-Kinekor Theatres, will also be selling the DVD and CD at the cinemas. The DVD and the compilation CD are based on the songs that the Choir performed at Nelson Mandela Theatre in front of a live audience.
